Abstract

English is an international language and commonly used as a means of communication all over the world. It plays a main character in our educational system and universal life. It has important contribute to the spread of learning. In English there are four skills and four language systems in English. The major skill are English is speaking, writing, listening, and reading, and all of the major skill skills is related to each other. The language system is needed to support learning a major skill, namely structure, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Vocabulary is a core component of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. One of the most crucial parts of learning English is vocabulary. Without comprehending a word’s meaning, students who are proficient in vocabulary would be unable to communicate effectively with others. Objective: To find teacher’s strategies in teaching vocabulary during pandemic and post pandemic era. Methods: Qualitative descriptive method. The population is English teacher of class XI Office program SMKN 1 Pelaihari, with a total sample of one teachers. Results: According to the result show that the strategies used by English teachers during the pandemic and post-pandemic are presentation strategies presentation strategies (using pictures, using videos,and translation), practice strategies for strategies training (guessing from context and looking up in the dictionary). Conclusion: Based on the findings and discussion presented in the previous chapter, it can be concluded that teachers use several strategies in teaching vocabulary during the pandemic and post-pandemic. In addition, there are differences in the strategies that teachers use to teach vocabulary in the pandemic and post-pandemic era.
