Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is a major challenge for vocational high school students, especially those taking accounting programs. Constraints such as limited class time, lack of motivation, and a lack of engaging resources often hinder successful vocabulary development. To address these challenges, digital platforms like Quizizz have been launched as interactive tools designed to increase student motivation and engagement. Objective: To explore the experience of tenth-grade accounting students in using Quizizz as a vocabulary learning tool at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Banjarmasin. Methods: A quantitative descriptive method research design was used, using 30 tenth-grade accounting students as participants. Data were collected using a questionnaire with 20 items divided into five indicators: motivation, engagement, perceived ease of use, feedback, vocabulary learning outcome. Results: Data show that students had a positive experience using Quizizz. Feedback received the highest mean score (3.72), followed by engagement (3.68), perceived ease of use (3.63), and motivation (3.57). Despite having the lowest mean score (3.49), vocabulary learning outcomes were still considered high. Conclusion: Quizizz provide a more engaging and dynamic learning environment, thereby increasing student motivation and engagement in vocabulary acquisition. Its game-based elements encourage meaningful interactions and can help vocational school students improve their English vocabulary.
