Abstract

The maximum result of teaching and learning process requires some supported things. One of them is media used by the teacher. Inappropriate use of media will make inconvenience in teaching and learning process. In overcoming this problems, it is necessary to use a variety and appropriate media which make students interesting in learning English Objective: (1) to find out the variety of media used by the teacher in the classroom (2) to find out the perception of student about the media used by English teacher at S1 Law Study Program. Methods: This research used mix method approach. The subject of this study was the student of S1 Law Sari Mulia University consists of 13 students. To find out the data, this research used questionnaire and interview. Results: Based on the result, it showed that kinds of media used by teacher when teaching English were PowerPoint, whiteboard, English book and dictionary. Positive perception is given by students toward the benefit of media used by the teacher. By using those media, students were easier tit make the students more understand the materials, interested and motivated in learning activities so they can be more active, more effective, efficient and saving time, and also they can associate the material with everyday life. However, there is still a few negative perception from students toward the media used by English teacher in the classroom.
