Abstract

Patient safety has become a global issue that needs attention for the health care system. Patient safety is a basic principle of health service which views that safety is a right for every patient in receiving health services. Poor communication is the most common cause of side effects in all aspects of health care. When communication in a patient's weighing is not done properly it can cause several problems and possible side effects, the risk of falls and patient dissatisfaction can occur. Objective: How is the Nurse's Experience in Handover Through SBAR Communication in the Inpatient Room of Sari Mulia Hospital Banjarmasin. Methods: This study used a qualitative design with a transcendent phenomenology approach on 10 participants who were in the inpatient room through purposive sampling technique. Retrieval of data using in-dept interviews with tape recorder and field notes. The method of analysis uses Colaizzi. Results: There were 7 themes found, namely (1) Nurses' understanding of falling risks. (2) Nurse's initial understanding of hand over. (3) Factors that influence the hand over. (4) Nurses' understanding of SBAR communication methods. (5) Benefits of nurses in using SBAR Communication. (6) Nurse constraints in conducting hand over through SBAR Communication (7) The meaning as a nurse for the success of her actions. Conclusion: There are various kinds of descriptions of nurses' experiences in performing nurses' handover shifts in falling risk patients, starting from nurses' understanding of falling risks and handovers through SBAR communication for nurses.
